Introducing The Z-Wing Downrigger
The Science of sub-surface fishing moves closer to perfection with the introduction of the patented Z-WING downrigger system. Operating on the principle of hydrodynamic depression rather than just weight, the Z-WING overcomes the shortcomings of the conventional downrigger systems.
REPLACE THE HEAVY LEAD BALL WITH A

Having the ability to troll lures and baits over a wide range of speeds without complicated adjustments to the length of the tow cable has been the dream of downrigger anglers and captains for many years. Now the Z-WING downrigger system has made this dream come true.
The Z-WING is a lightweight, 13” x 7” piece of virtually indestructible polypropylene plastic. No more heavy lead balls rolling around the boat or swinging off the end of downrigger booms which can cause damage to both angler and boat alike.
The Z-WING has three positions with the center hole being the most efficient. Attaching the Z-WING 250 by the center hole will produce a 16 degree downward angle, far outperforming a 5 lb. lead ball. The Z-WING will hold this angle and lateral position at speeds from 3 knots and up.

Even though we do it for fun, we all know what a challenge fishing can be. But most of us know only the recreational side of things. Imagine the pressure we might feel if getting skunked on the water meant we might have trouble paying our family’s bills.
In that situation, wouldn’t you pay a little extra attention to what does and doesn’t turn fish on? Would all your knots and crimps be just a little tighter? And maybe your hooks a little sharper?
That extra attention is what makes Capt. Jodie Gay’s Blue Water Candy different from any other line of tackle.
For 23 years Capt. Jodie knew the pressure of fishing for a living, and the rewards that come when everything you put in the water is just right. He specialized in hook-and-line fishing in the open ocean, trolling for tuna, dolphin, wahoo and king mackerel in pretty much the same way sport fishermen do. He also made money bottom fishing for grouper and snapper, on trips that might keep him on the water for two or three days and nights.
By the time he decided to quit commercial fishing, in 2002, Jodie Gay had figured out a thing or two about what kind of rigs and techniques help fill up a fish box.
