fishing's catchiest gear

The TackleMonkey.com Fishing Wiki

If you haven’t browsed our “Wiki” yet I hope you’ll do so.  North Carolina angler Capt. Mike Becker (TopsailAngler.com) has assisted in creating this compilation of fish species and fishing tackle information.  We’ve only started and will add more and more information, but here is an introduction to our Tackle Wiki from Capt. Mike.

Until a year or so ago I didn’t know what “wiki” meant.  Actually It’s an old word with a new application.

The word comes from Hawaii and in their native language meant “quickly” and carries the idea of information, so you could translate it roughly “quick information”.  That’s the old part.

The new application is unique to the web.  On the web a wiki is a source of information, like an encyclopedia or knowledge base.  In fact the best known wiki is Wikipedia.com

The TackleMonkey.com Wiki is all about fishing!  So check it out and keep coming back as we add more and more entries.

You can visit the Tackle Wiki here:  http://wiki.tacklemonkey.com

And you can view our current list of topics here:  http://wiki.tacklemonkey.com/index.php/wiki/Special:Titles

If you would like to contribute information on fish species, tackle setup to catch them, baits, rigs, etc. please send it to us with our Contact Us page.  Thanks!  smile
